Charter Public School Law Improvements Boost State Rankings

In our new report, Measuring Up to the Model: A Ranking of State Charter School Laws, we evaluate each state’s charter school law against the 20 essential components of a strong public charter school law. These 20 components are drawn from the National Alliance’s A New Model Law for Supporting the Growth of High-Quality Public Charter Schools.
This year’s rankings report again details the leaders for each of the 20 essential components of the National Alliance model law—i.e., those states that received the highest rating for a particular component. For 18 of the 20 components, the leading states received a rating of 4 on a scale of 0 to 4. For Component #18 and Component #19, no states received a 4, so the leading states are those that received a rating of 3.
