National Alliance for Public Charter Schools to Host Capitol Hill Briefing on Charter School Innovation

Washington, D.C.- On Monday, December 7 at 1:30pm, the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools will host a Capitol Hill briefing on ways charter schools are encouraging innovation in K-12 education.

The autonomy provided to charter schools has granted teachers and school leaders an unparalleled opportunity to rethink traditional educational methods and school culture, develop new curricula, and create learning environments targeted to students unique needs. The resultinginnovation cultivated in charter public schools has led to improved student outcomes and unprecedented parental demand.

Moderated by US News and World Reports Lauren Camera, next months National Alliance briefing will center around a new report from The Mind Trust entitled, Raising the Bar: Why Public Charter Schools Must Become Even More Innovative. The Mind Trust’s Vice President for Communications Steve Campbell will be joined by Carlie Fisherow, Executive Director of DC Scholar Academies, Jon Rosenberg, President and CEO of New Yorks Hebrew Charter School Center, and Jessica Wodatch, founder and Executive Director of Two Rivers Public Charter School, to discuss successful charter school practices as well as the challenges and opportunities facing the charter school movement.
