Maggie O’Sullivan is a long-time public school educator who has dedicated more than 18 years to improving educational opportunities for students in the state of Washington, including founding Rainier Prep Charter School. Her leadership potential was evident early on in her teaching career while at Foster High School, where she helped her school’s successful application for the Gates Achievers Scholarship. This scholarship provides 10 years of college funding for low-income students. During her eight years as principal in the Federal Way School District she also received the Martin Luther King Closing the Achievement Gap award.
This fall, when public schools are back in school in Seattle, Washington, Maggie will continue building her education leadership experience, but in a new way. The charter school that she founded, Rainier Prep, will open its doors in South King County, WA, to welcome all 5th-8th graders. Utilizing her experience as a public educator and spending months talking to members of the community, Maggie instinctively understands what students and their families need and what will work to ensure that students are prepared for college. She has opted to focus Rainer Prep on the model of inquiry- and project-based learning that compliments college prep curriculum. Learn more about Rainier Prep Public Charter School here.
