This is the scarce Type 2 "Clear S" proof Susan B. Anthony dollar from the San Francisco Mint — the key variety collectors hunt for!
All 1981 SBA dollars were proofs only (no circulation strikes). The Type 2 features a sharp, well-defined "S" mint mark (lower left near date) with clear bulbous serifs and flatter top — unlike the common filled/blobby Type 1. Only ~8–17% of 1981-S proofs are Type 2, making this a true key date in the SBA series!
