The Gibson Historic Collection catalog was first produced in 1998.
The cover's paper quality has a luxurious feel, as if reproducing the time, and the embossed mark is also beautiful.
The black and white interior was met with mixed reactions, but if it was intended to evoke the era, it's quite elaborate. A color chart is included separately, possibly because models like the Firebird were also featured.
Gibson made the most significant specification changes in Historic history in 1999, but the fact that they produced such a substantial catalog a year earlier suggests it was a prelude to the Les Paul Standard reissue project for the NAMM show of the same year.
