Antique Paper Mache Wax Hand Painted Display Shelf Doll

One of a kind antique paper mache and wax overlay stationary doll. Made with paper mache, cotton lace, hand twisted corded hair and formed antique paperboard that was hand painted and all overlaid with hard wax to preserve the details. I have never seen anything like this doll and cannot find any references to this kind of process or artform. Little lace gloves were drawn on paper and pasted on the surface after the doll was made. This is a rare and unique piece. There is some cracking in the wax and a few places where the wax has chipped but overall it is in beautiful condition for its age. It is unbelievably sturdy. I am not certain of the official age because there are no references to go by but would estimate this to be at least Victorian. Was mostly a personal gift made for a child by a craftsman with limited resources.
